Hydroxybenzoyl is widely used as an antibacterial preservative in cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical preparations. It can be used alone or in combination with other hydroxybenzene esters and other antibacterial preservatives. Among cosmetics, hydroxybenzoyl is the most commonly used antibacterial preservative. Hydroxybenzoyl esters are effective in a wide range of pH, and despite their effect on yeast and mold**, they still have broad-spectrum antibacterial properties.
